-:- Blog -:-

Well here it is, my blog. You can gaze upon it in all its glory. Please note that as I'm from the UK, so the dates use a DD/MM/YYYY format. Also, not all the imgaes in the blog were originally dithered, but have been retroactively for bandwidth and stylistic reasons.

If you want to see the un-dithered versions, some images will open in a newtab when clicked on.

27/03/2026 - New site look

Well here it is. Been working on this for ages. Kind of surprised it actually got completed. I've not really being doing much IRL. Living at home and getting sparse work. I've def been busy at times but it kind of feels just like a distraction to be honest. I am still very proud of the work I've got done for this site. Hopefully you all like it.

God Title Fight are so good. Go listen to Title Fight.

Don't really feel like I have a lot to say right now sorry. My head tends to be so empty!!!

27/03/2026 - This website is two years old

As of today, this website has been up for two whole years. Not bad! Does make me feel quite old though.

I'll let you in on a secret: I wanted to drop an extra special super secret site update today, but it's still not ready. Might be done in a week, maybe a month, maybe longer. Either way, this site has not been abandoned. See you all later, with hopefully a lot to show for it.

10/11/2025 - WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Well the answer is, working on other stuff. I don't feel like I have much control over what excites me creatively. If something isn't creatively exciting to me, working on it can be like pulling teeth. I went to the doctors to ask about some kind of ADHD diagnosis, as I've always been curious about it, but they gave me this great big fuck off form to fill out (you need to write paragraphs and its like 30 pages long) so NO way I'm doing that any time soon. Make of that what you will. Anyway, I have been working on stuff in the background, just not on this site. I really really want to give this site the TLC it deserves, especially since I knew even less about HTML and CSS when making this site. I think I might have to design it again from the bottom up, keeping in mind what's realistic and also focusing on stability. Probably never going to do mobile support tho :-P. Either way, I see no reason to work on this site unless its creatively interesting to me. I know I have some followers but I'm SURE they'll be Ok if I don't update for a while longer lolz.

I will go now, who knows when I will return, or if I'll have much to offer :-3. BYE!!!!!!!

10/07/2025 - And they were roommates...

Well late enough I suppose. Disertation is handed in but I just didn't get enough done. The stuff I did end up doing, I'm really really proud of I think its great quality - I just didn't get enough quantity done unfortunately. Got some more coursework due to be done in 9 or so days (3 of which I'm going to be unable to get work done). Then after that I have a resit for the hardest exam I've ever taken. So freaking lame!!!!! Moved back home now still got some stuff to put away. I've just had a little help from my friends and now I'm listening to this on youtube. It's one of my all time favourite Silvagunner rips - maybe I could create a playlist on here for my favourites. That would be interesting maybe, just something to occpy myself whilst I avoid work ([one] of the main reasons this site exists at all).

Unrelated, a month or so ago, me and my housemates + another friend did a presentation of our Dream and Nightmare Blunt Rotations (five people in each catagory). I spent a lot of time working on it. I won't go through all of it here as perhaps I'll record a version for youtube to make sure my internet footrpint makes me as unemployable as possible. One member of my Dream Rotation I'll share is the one and holy Terry A. Davis. I just remember the Mihai Isvoranu interview with Terry at a subway where he just seems so lucid and talkative. I think that would be a really nice energy and he's also really knowledgeable about late 90s and early 2000's OS. Whilst I have been an ametuer fan from a young age, he must know so so much and hearing him info dump would be a treat.

A lot has happened but I don't have a lot to say right now sorry. Speak to you (the void, god, or whoever it is that reads these IDK) later.

14/02/2025 - Hello again

Hi. It's been almost a year since I've last posted a blog on this site. Despite this, I have still been working on the overall site architecture, working on my about me and the like in the background. The main motivator for this post is the fact that (as of a few days ago) "MosesSHTAR's Site" has reached 10,000 visits. That's awesome thank you everyone. Not a lot has happened between now and my last post within my life. My mental health has stayed awful and I've just been trying to get my Geology degree done. I find it so hard to get anything done, even if I enjoy it. Not all awful though. I've completed a month-long mapping project in the North Highlands of Scotland for my dissertation. It was so grueling and one of the hardest things I've ever done, but the geology was worth it (maybe). Once my dissertation is finished, I'll upload parts of it to a geology blog post. There's plenty more to say, but it'll have to wait as I'm writing this in the middle of a Uni practical and so I'd better crack on with my work. Speak to you all later buh bai.

24/04/2024 - Lots to say

Plenty to speak about at the moment. Most of all, I've just 100% Black Mesa which has taken me WAY too long. But it's done! For reference, in order to fully complete it, you must complete a multitude of difficult achivements, many that include brining various objects through all or most of the game. If you're not aware, there's no inventory in this game, so you have to physcially take said objects with you, placing them on the ground if you want to shoot etc, and hope that they dont fly into oblivion. One of the items is a silly purple top hat, which once brought to the end boss, the final cut scene will have the G Man wearing it. I'm very happy to have completed this game - it's one of my favourite of all time. It takes the wonderful design work done by valve for the original Half-life release, and brings it to modern standards. Whilst I hold immense respect for Half-life 1, Black Mesa is just a far more enjoyable experience in my opinion. Not to mention that the comparison between the two game's renditions of Xen is night and day.

Aside from that, I've been making more progress in The Binding of Isaac. I managed to get my first Delirium kill, which is among the hardest bosses in the game. I feel kind of bad though, as I had such an overpowered run that I ended up killing the poor bastard in less than a minute or so. Either way, that's my first time beating them under my belt. Here's a pic of them in their death animation:

One last thing: whilst looking through my steam screenshots, I found this great one from when me and my wonderful s/o Smalls were playing:

20/04/2024 - 4/20

Happy 420 everyone. I celebrated today in Castle Park, Bristol with my housemates and a some friends. The weather was incredible! So warm.

Apparently, 700+ people attended last year and I can only guess that even more went in 2024. There were a bunch of DJs set up, and although I didn't mingle, the music was SO good. It was also pretty much the most packed I've ever seen Bristol, as EVERYONE came out - for 420 or just to enjoy the weather. Good day.

11/04/2024 - Kicked Hush's ass

Well I've now managed to kill Hush on The Binding of Isaac:Repentance. It was a real bitch to complete, since you have to get to Womb II in just 30 minutes. I struggle with this - I usually get to Womb II in up to an hour, since I like squeezing each floor for all its worth and rigging to the maximum. It's done now though, and now the alternate floors are unlocked!! This is like an entire new game of content to play - though the difficulty is WAY higher. Ask anyone who plays it, The Binding of Isaac is an incredibly punishing game, so this new unlock is a bit of a double edged sword. Having now unlocked the alt path, and with one mother kill under my belt (thanks to a very OP run and a lucky Chaos Card) I'm sat at 198/636 achievements and 205.5 hours of play time.

Me unlocking the alt path, on my third hush kill:

This is just my first entry into my video game blog, so you're probably going to see some more stuff here in the future.

01/04/2024 - Easter

Well, happy Easter (a day late) . On the topic of Christ, there's always been something about Catholic imagery and iconography that I find very aestheticly pleasing. My whole family are the the same. We have Christian paraphernalia all over our house, even though none of us are religious at all. So for example, I have a metal shrine about 60cm odd tall, with a Jesus statue in it as you enter my house at Uni. Why? Idk, it looks cool.

At the moment, I'm trying my best to read "A History of the Bible" by John Barton. Despite having said book for over a year now, I'm only on page 58!! I guess I just suffer from a Gen Z attention span so can't focus on anything that isn't like keys jangling in front of my face. At the same time as trying to read "A History of the Bible", I'm also trying to read uh.. "The Bible". It's really fkn hard lol because a lot of it just doesn't make sense. Take for example Exodus 24 in which multiple conflicting events are held to be true (though I'm sure some folks have done their best to make sense of it). Moses goes up the mountain alone to chat with Yahweh, and no one else is allowed to be near God - but at the same time, Moses and a bunch of elders go on to later have a meal with God? Like it's no big deal??? Imagine having cheese and wine with the literal manifestation of God.

Well anyway, here's some Christian (mostly Catholic) artwork/imagery that I quite enjoy:

30/03/2024 - Hydrothermal Barite

Today I want to talk about some hydrothermal barite viens that I came across when doing some fieldwork in North Glen Sannox, Arran. Glen Sannox has had a history of industry and mining - though since 1938 it has been abandoned. Here's some pictures of the site/area:

The sample (as shown below) belongs to the area's native conglomerates (part of the Am Binnein Sandstone Formation, itself part of the Devonian Old Red Sandstone) intruded by hydrothermal barite, that has crystalised along the rock's bedding plains. As these rocks fall into the Lower Devonian epoch, they can be dated to around 419.2-393.3 million years old. Glen Sannox's conglomerates are generally supported by well-rounded pebble-sized quartz clasts, surrounded by a fine to coarse quartz matrix, bound by a iron-oxide cement. The barite crystals themselves appear in a range of texutes - including fiberous, amorphous and tabular. Interestingly (I'd hope), the barite is joined by an accesory mineral: Epidote, which has formed alongside the barite bulk. Overall, I value this sample quite a lot, as it has quite a lot to show for in such a small space and demonstrates some lovely intrusive relationships.

29/03/2024 - Hey NeoCities:

As I'm sure a lot of you will agree, social media hasn't turned out to be the amazing positive influence on people's lives as maybe we imagined it to be. Having the best possible versions of other people constantly shown to oneself is recipe for low self-esteem and self-image issues, and the like. Thank the Gods then that Web 1.0 wasn't as dead as I imagined it to be lol. As of writing, this website is around 3 days old. I'm definately happy and surpised with the progress I've made (this is my first time learning HTML). That said, I have quite big ambitions as Im aware the site could still use some visual improvements. Can't be too harsh on myself though, as again this is only a few days in the making. Here's a snapshot of what the homepage looks like at this point:

Has it even changed much? Who knows. I tend to abandon projects pretty easily, even if I feel passionate about them. It sucks but oh well.

I think that's probably enough for my first entry, thanks for reading.
